21 January 2024 - Slovenia’s ski jumpers demonstrated their depth of young talent by winning Mixed Team Gold at the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024, finishing well clear of Norway in second and Austria in bronze medal spot.
The Slovenian quartet finished top of the standings in both rounds at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre in Pyeongchang. 17 year-olds Taja Bodlaj and Enej Faletic were joined by 16 year-olds Ajda Kosnejek and Urban Simnic to shine on a big stage for young winter sports stars.
Bodlaj has made a spectacular start to these fourth Winter YOG games, having won gold on the opening day of ski jumping in the Women’s Normal Hill Individual event.
Men’s individual champion Ilya Mizernykh was in the Kazakhstan quartet which finished thirteenth of the 15 teams. It was Germany who narrowly missed out on a medal and had to settle for fourth place.
Gangwon 2024 runs until 1 February, with more than 1,800 athletes from 78 NOCs taking part. The Winter Youth Olympic Games is filmed for live television and digital streaming on the Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the Olympics app, with full session replays and highlights also available.
