ONE PLANET. ONE MISSION, ONE DAY

Release Date: 25 Apr 2025
Earth day

This April 22 is Earth Day, our annual reminder that we all have a role to play in protecting our planet.

Earth Day is a day to come together, appreciate the natural world, and take action—big or small—to create a cleaner, healthier future. From planting trees to reducing waste, every effort counts. With millions of people across the globe joining in, Earth Day shows that positive change is possible when we work together.

At HEAD, we’re marking the event by launching our first sustainability report. This is where we look back at our recent past to examine our key achievements and look forward to our plans for the future and our continued efforts to make our business more sustainable.

We have big plans.

To put it technically, we aim to reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030[1] or, to put it more simply, we’ve committed to significantly lowering the organization's direct and energy-related emissions to help combat climate change.

This requires implementing new strategies. We have already started to develop products with a more eco-friendly design to minimise environmental impact and contribute to the circular economy, (a system that minimizes waste by reusing, recycling, and regenerating materials to keep resources in use, wherever possible, for as long as possible).

Introducing: BOOM RAW.

To mark Earth Day, our Racquet Sports Division is launching our new cutting-edge BOOM RAW tennis racquet. The frame is made with ‘bio-circular’ carbon fibers[2] giving the player explosive power with a fun feel and easy playability. Bio-circular carbon fibers are made from recycled waste, so instead of being sent to landfill or otherwise taken out of the economy – the waste is recycled into the structure of an amazing racquet.

The original BOOM series is a fun-loving collection with signature playability designed to boost confidence. This new version, BOOM RAW continues to be just as much fun but now it’s more environmentally friendly. We hope this is just the beginning in a future series of more sustainable racquets. In line with HEAD’s commitment to sustainability, our primary tennis racquet manufacturer in China will transition to sourcing exclusively green energy[3] for our racquet production, including the BOOM.

We also have a range of balls, tennis bags, and strings using more sustainable materials and packaging. Including our updated ball cans, made with 35% pre-consumer recycled PET, a shorter sleeve, made with polypropylene, a recyclable material, and easier for machines to detect the PET and send the can to the correct recycling flow.

More Sustainable Winter Sports Products.

In our Winter Sports Division we’ve developed ski boots and bindings along with a new range of helmets, goggles and accessories, all containing more sustainable materials. This year we also launched the RENEW ski constructed with a combination of renewable and recyclable materials. This is a unique project, the first of its kind in the entire wintersports industry, and we are proud of that. What´s more, customers can return the used skis within 5 years of purchase and, we will renew the wood core, fibreglass layer and tip protector, recycling everything else, giving the skis a second life. Renewal of the ski can reduce its CO2 emissions by up to 26%[4].

Our Water Sports Divisions, Zoggs, Mares and SSI have introduced sustainable lines in most of their latest products. All of our divisions are working on reducing packaging and introducing more environmentally friendly materials for packages and boxes. In terms of social responsibility, all our divisions are already well ahead with a good balance of diversity and inclusion, educational roles and raising awareness on the importance of protecting the environment. We are also working hard to get customers more involved in our sustainability efforts.

22 of April is a perfect day to get involved in sport be it outside, in the mountains, in the water or on court. Wherever you enjoy your activity, we hope you’ll join us in sparing a thought for this fragile little planet where we ski, snowboard, swim, dive, and play racquet sports. Happy Earth Day.
