The Olympic Games Paris 2024 Official App received two distinctions in the category Best Visual Design – Function (Apps & Software): the Webby Award, selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and the People’s Voice Award, determined by public vote. The app, developed and operated by the IOC’s Olympic Channel Services, served as a key platform for fan engagement during the Games, offering real-time results, athlete information and personalised content to users worldwide.

In the Video & Film categories, the IOC’s original series “Breaking Life: Road to Paris 2024” was named People’s Voice Winner in Sports (Series & Channels). Produced by the Olympic Channel, the four-part series follows eight breaking athletes – B-boys Victor, Jeffro, Gravity and Shigekix, and B-girls Ayane, Nicka, Anti and Stefani – as they pursue qualification for the sport’s Olympic debut in Paris.

Three additional IOC-led projects linked to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 also received nominations at this year’s Webby Awards. The “1 in 100 Million” campaign, which highlighted the personal stories and determination of Refugee Olympic Team athletes, was nominated in the category Best Cause-Related Campaign (Advertising, Media & PR). The Olympic Channel series “Wrestling My Family”, which offers an all-access look at India’s most famous wrestling family, the Phogats, was nominated in the Reality & Unscripted category (Video & Film). The Olympic Channel documentary “Teahupo’o Surf Camp: Road to Paris 2024”, which followed top surfers as they trained at the iconic Teahupo’o wave in Tahiti ahead of the Games, was nominated in the Sports Limited Series & Specials category (Video & Film).

Media Rights-Holding Partners were also recognised for their Paris 2024-related digital efforts. NBC Sports received both the Webby Award and the People’s Voice Award in the Social – Sports category for its Olympic coverage across digital platforms.

NBCUniversal’s Peacock was honoured in two categories for its digital initiatives during Paris 2024. The platform received the Webby Award in Apps & Software – Entertainment & Sports for its Olympic Games streaming service, and the People’s Voice Award in Social – Best Community or Fan Engagement for its “Olympic Commentator Challenge” – an interactive campaign that invited fans to submit their own commentary and engage directly with Olympic content.

BBC Creative was also honoured with the People’s Voice Award in Advertising, Media & PR – Best Use of Animation or Motion Graphics for its promotional campaign for Paris 2024.

The Webby Awards are presented annually by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Established in 1996, they are widely regarded as the leading international awards honouring excellence across the internet.

The recognition of the IOC’s digital initiatives by the Webby Awards highlights the impact of its ongoing digital strategy, which is guided by Olympic Agenda 2020+5 and aims to engage people with the Olympic Movement in innovative and immersive ways. By leveraging digital platforms to enhance the way people follow, interact with and experience the Olympic Games, the IOC continues to strengthen its global reach and ensure the Games remain relevant and accessible to audiences around the world.
