With the clock ticking towards a hard Brexit, the EU should cooperate with the UK in reaching a trade deal, but with clear red lines, the EPP Group says. To continue trading freely with the EU, the UK must respect EU rules and standards, maintaining a level playing field, or face severe disruption in trade when the post-Brexit transition ends at the end of the year. And EPP Group MEPs say there must be an agreement before late autumn for the European Parliament to have time to approve it. Defending the EU’s internal market, they say, is to defend the European way of life.
