At Auto Shanghai 2021, Continental presents the sixth-generation long-range radar and surround radar. Both radar systems share a software and hardware platform, reducing complexity and costs. The performance is again significantly increased compared to the generation before.
The long-range radar covers predictive applications for NCAP requirements up to automated driving functions. The surround radar has been especially designed for 360 degrees environmental detection and has a range of about 200 meters.
Radar sensors are vital for the driving safety in challenging traffic situations, for example, autonomous emergency braking at intersections and the early and precise detection of motorcycles and cyclists.
