Zhang Yufei confirmed her status as the queen of the 200m butterfly division as she led from start-to-finish to win gold and set an Olympic record in a time of 2:03.86.
Zhang was chased home by USA pair Regan Smith (silver) and Hali Flickinger (bronze), meaning that the first three home were all athletes wearing Speedo suits, with Zhang proudly sporting a custom Chinese Federation Pure Valor suit.
Flickinger was also in Pure Valor, with Smith donning Speedo’s Pure Intent suit – both of which were in the Federation print of the USA.
This was the third time during the Tokyo Olympic Games that Speedo suits have filled the top three spots in one of the women’s finals, following a similar outcome in the 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke contests.
